Nick graduated with a BA (Hons) in Humanities from Hudddersfield Polytechnic rather a long time ago, worked in France for a while and returned to sit his Common Professional Exam and Law Society Finals at Leeds qualifying as a Solicitor on 15th September 1984.

Nick served his articles (what is now called a "training contract") under Robin Lowe, the late lamented senior partner of Stapleton & Son, and has been with us throughout his career in the law except for a one-year sabbatical from July 2013-2014 when he served as President of The Law Society.

Nick was surprised and delighted to be awarded an honorary doctorate of the University of Huddersfield in 2014 stated to be "in recognition of (his) outstanding contribution to the legal arena on a local regional and national level"

His default hourly charge-out rate, as a very senior solicitor with 39 years experience, is £250 per hour plus VAT.

Nick deals with most types of property-related work, Will-making and straightforward tax planning.

In this, now rather old photo, Nick is wearing the formal chain of office of the President of the Law Society of England and Wales - he gave that back when his term of office expired in July 2014 but he still looks otherwise pretty similar - apart from having a bit less hair and a few more wrinkles.
