School Governors - new responsibilities

Are you a School Governor?

Do you know the myriad of new legal provisions relating to the governing bodies of schools?  Are you, or can you name the Race Equality Governor on your school's governing body?  If you are the Race Equality Governor it is your task to ensure the school is meeting its obligations under the Race Relations Amendment Act 2000 and since September 2007 all schools must comply with their new legal duties to promote Community Cohesion under the Education and Inspections Act 2006.

The school must be able to produce written policies with details of the annual assessments and monitoring of them to demonstrate compliance.

If you are a school governor, head teacher, school owner or just need advice in relation to the legal obligations implict in these roles get in touch with Mr Buxton via our contacts page and he will be pleased to "keep you legal"!
