This long established Firm was founded in 1863 by Valentine Stapleton and by 1868 was practising from Byard House in St. Paul's Street, Stamford.
In 1900 the Firm moved into premises in the centre of town and a year later was named Stapleton & Son when Valentine's son, Valentine George, joined the practice.
In 1909 Charles Conyers Lowe, a Suffolk solicitor with local connections, joined the Firm and, upon the death of Valentine Stapleton he purchased the goodwill of the business but continued to practise under the name of Stapleton & Son.
The family tradition continued when Charles' son, Robert Conyers Lowe joined the firm, eventually becoming senior partner, a position he held until his retirement in 1987.
Over the intervening years the Firm has developed a national and international presence whilst remaining very much in touch with its roots and preserving its dedication to delivering high-quality hands-on legal services. Its specialities mentioned elsewhere reflect a consistent growth on a sure foundation of solid expertise and the confidence of all our clients whether multinational corporations or individuals is, we pride ourselves, well placed.
